Nassau Walking Tour
City & Island ToursNassau · The Bahamas
Some cities are best read at walking pace, and old Nassau is one of them. Meet your certified local guide at the pink Tourism Police Station opposite the cruise port exit, and set off into streets the buses can't reach. The route climbs the sixty-six limestone steps of the Queen's Staircase, carved in the late 1700s, up to Fort Fincastle on Bennett's Hill and its view over the harbour. Then back down through Parliament and Rawson Squares — the pink colonial heart of the capital — the Straw Market and Bay Street, with stops for local food and drink along the way. The stories are the point: history, folklore and neighbourhood detail you only get on foot, from a guide who knows exactly where to stand for the photograph.

We had Sofia as our driver today, she was amazing. We saw so much of the island, not just the tourist spots. If we come back we will definitely, definitely ask for her again. If you're thinking about doing a private tour, these folks are who you need to talk to. They made everything easy. Sofia new all the spots around island to show us she knew the background of the island she knew a lot of the history. It was an absolutely great day!
